The LHCMLI would like to introduce you — gorgeous, gracious follower of LHCMLI — to Natalie. (No, this is not staff writer Natalie speaking in third person!)
Natalie is the LHCMLI muse. She is a bubble of goodness who dotes upon Brooklyn-based Second Stop’s hungry friends(/fiends!). (Haha, we joke — there are no fiends at Second Stop.) Second Stop is a magical place where coffee is consumed and friendships are christened and you should definitely go for a gander!
Ahem.
As we were saying: Natalie is a true artiste — which is French for “artist” which is English for… um, we don’t know.
Anywho. Check out Natalie’s latest song, which was inspired by an encounter with ephemeral beauty and esteemed actor, Susan Sarandon. Susan was playing ping-pong. Natalie was playing cool. This is the result.
Natalie is the bomb — the nuclear glitter bomb.
And, of course, the LHCMLI Staff thinks Natalie’s life is super cool. And sparkly.
Meet Leelah.
Leelah is cool.
Leelah is cool — not because she lives in Taiwan (she does!), not because she is 17 (she is!), and not because she has experienced more of the world than most people twice — even thrice — her age (she has, she really has!).
Leelah is cool because she is brave; she decided to spend her senior year of high school in a foreign country, away from family and friends. When it comes to courage, that’s like Gryffindor brave.
Actually, Gryffindor would be lucky to have Leelah — because we all know Hogwarts was a mere train ride away from Privet Drive. Taiwan is on the other side of the world. Leelah had to travel 30 hours through the sky to get to Taipei! Poof! Magic.
Leelah is magic.
The LHCMLI Staff knows cool when they see it — Leelah’s life is really cool.
You know what’s cool? Painting on public/other peoples’ property is cool.
Making the world colorful is cool.
Making people happy is really cool.
And you know who does all of these things?
Sonni does.
Sonni does these things and he gets featured on the front page of the Miami Herald Neighbors section for doing them.
The LHCMLI Staff thinks Sonni’s life is really effing cool.
The LHCMLI staff has encountered quite a few cool folk in their day, and Chase Bender—the dapper chap pictured above—easily weighs in as one of the world-of-cool’s heavy hitters.
Check Chase in the abovementioned photo: He just graduated from law school, passed the New York Bar, secured a job at a fancy law firm, got told by the law firm to take a year of paid leave before beginning life-as-a-lawyer, spent the first half of the year off in Buenos Aires, Argentina and now lives in Bogota, Colombia.
Chase currently spends his days working for a Colombian non-profit organization, frequenting indie hip-hop blogs, perfecting his already flawless Spanish and is the kind of guy that can be found strolling down a busy avenue with a goofy grin plastered on his face.
LHCMLI thinks Chase Bender’s life is cool.

Isn’t The Jam Stand cool?
I have chosen to submit my musical talents to this blog.
Like it and love it, because it’s COOL.
Isn’t David Carnright’s life cool?

David, pictured at center, claims he is no longer cool. He wrote to the LHCMLI staff:
“So, as I sit here drowning in an office full of papers, I realize… I am not that cool.
However, I used to be a really cool dude.”
Didn’t David Caballero’s life used to be cool?
Last night Gabby and I went to the Major Lazer + Santigold/Miike Snow show at Terminal 5! (Doug Levy, fellow arbiter of cool, was also present.)
We had a three-hour-long-dance-party that ended just as MS strummed(/spun?) their final chords, at which point Gabby and I dissolved into an exhausted puddle of giggles and glitter.
Outside we encountered Major Lazer and tried to impress him—unsuccessfully—with our cool-ness. At least we managed to snag this phat photo with him!
Major Lazer is pretty cool so I am pretty sure we acquired some of his cool through osmosis.
Then we ate falafel in Brooklyn.
Isn’t Natalie Castellanos’s life cool?
